Food Allergies

Food allergies are a common problem in the United States. In fact, James Braly, M.D., Medical Director of ImmunoLabs believes that because of our SAD (Standard American Diet)…
“Actually the majority of Americans suffer from allergies” This is particularly true of food allergy, the most commonly undiagnosed condition in the United States today.”

Although there are many theories regarding the cause of food allergies, a likely culprit is our Standard American Diet (SAD). Most of us consume the same foods every day, which is likely to cause intolerances (wheat, corn, eggs, diary etc.). For more information about food quality, check our nutrition page.

There are several types of food allergies that cause digestive symptoms. Most people are familiar with severe food allergies (like peanuts) that cause anaphylactic shock and even death.
Much more frequently, people deal with food allergies resulting from a different immune cell (IgE) that results in delayed symptoms of bloating, fatigue, gas, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, skin irritation, and even nasal congestion.

Often food allergies result from intestinal dysbiosis or leaky gut and can be corrected by addressing the source of those problems. Strengthening the immune system through acupuncture and herbal medicine, completing a detox to eliminate all the possible stressors for a short period of time, and strengthening the digestive system can decrease food sensitivities.
